El Bonito fish with tomato it is a traditional, simple and tasty dish. Summer is the ideal time to prepare it, in the middle of the North Tuna season. A few vegetables and a good tomato sauce are enough to prepare a delicious meal in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

For two people

  • 1 thick slice of fresh northern bonito
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 onions
  • 1 garlic cloves.
  • 1 ripe tomato
  • Ketchup
  • Sal Island
  • Pepper
  • A pinch of sugar
  • A pinch of chopped parsley
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Crafting

In a saucepan we heat a drizzle of oil and we mark the nice on both sides for a few seconds. We remove to a plate, season and reserve.

In the same pot poach the onion julienned, the pepper and garlic very minced. About 15 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

Add the chopped or grated tomato, the tomato sauce, the parsley and a pinch of sugar (to counteract the acidity of the tomato). We remove the sauce so that all the flavors are well integrated and cook 5-8 minutes.

After that time we add the nice to the casserole and let it cook for 10 minutes over low heat.

We let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

If you do not like to find pieces of onion or pepper, you can pass the sauce through the blender before introducing the bonito.
