Homemade bouillon cubes

Vegetable bouillon cubes

Surely at some point you have resorted to the classic pickups hot that, without a doubt, give a different touch to our dishes, but what can we do if we want to have a more homemade and natural option? Very easy: We can prepare our own bouillon cubes, made at home with natural ingredients. The ones you see in the photo are made of vegetables but we can prepare them whatever we want (chicken, beef, fish, etc ...). Here's how to do it.

We will simply have to make a broth by introducing all the necessary ingredients in a pot with half a liter of water, salt to taste and pepper. Then we will strain it and there will be ingredients that must be removed (such as the chicken skeleton) and others that we can use to make a cream, a soup or any other recipe (such as vegetables, for example). With that said, let's see how to prepare each broth:

Made of veggies

For this we can use the vegetables that we like the most although a combination that will adapt to all our recipes without problems could be:

  • Half an onion
  • 1 Carrot
  • A piece of leek
  • 1 Tomate
  • 1 Zucchini

Chicken, beef, lamb or fish

For these four broths we will use the same vegetable base that we have used in the previous broth, with the difference that we will add a piece of chicken, beef, lamb or fish, depending on which we want to prepare. If we want to do it even more or economic sector. We can use the bones of the meat, the bones or the head of the fish (in the butcher or fish shop you can even ask them to keep it for you).

Once we have our broth ready, we just have to strain it and freeze it in the way that we like the most. I use a tray to make ice but they could also serve small tuppers or even bags, a matter of taste and comfort.

That's right, they could even be made completely without salt. All the best!

It depends, depending on how many vegetables you have used and how big you make the cubes. I usually use between 2 and 4 🙂
