- 500 gr. chestnuts
- 500 ml. milk
- 180 gr. sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla flavoring or a vanilla bean
- A pinch of salt
Preparation
- To prepare the sweet chestnut cream, we will start by making some cuts in the chestnuts.
- We will put a pot with water, when it starts to boil we add the chestnuts, we leave them 5 minutes to scald and thus they will peel well. When they are, we remove them from the heat, drain them and let them warm for a few minutes.
- Before they get cold, we will remove the skin.
- We will put a casserole, add the milk, the sugar, the vanilla and the salt. Add the peeled chestnuts, when it starts to boil, let it cook for about 20 minutes or until the chestnuts are tender.
- When they are cooked, we will crush them. We can crush them a lot until it is like a cream or leave little pieces. If it is too thick we will add milk.
- If you do enough, keep it in glass jars and freeze.
- There is a very good cream left, at home it has been very successful.
