It is not the first time we prepare roasted apples we love them! We have seen how our mothers and grandmothers prepared them and we have learned from their way of making them. Therefore, it should not surprise us that there are small or large variations between some recipes and others.
The baked apples that I propose today are my grandmother's favorites. The peculiarity is that they are sweetened in addition to the usual ingredients: brown sugar, cinnamon and / or honey, with brandy. In your case with Calvados, a French brandy obtained by distillation of cider. Do you dare to try them?
- 6 pippin apples
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons of Calvados
- 6 teaspoons of honey
- Water
- We clean the apples and we discourage them. You can do it well with a corer or a small knife, being careful not to go through the apple. We place the apples in a baking dish.
- In a bowl we mix the sugar, the cinnamon, and the Calvados. We fill with the mixture the hole left by the heart of the apples.
- On this mix, we put a teaspoon of honey.
- We pour a little water in the source, a finger approximately and we take to the oven.
- We bake at 190ºC the time it takes for the apples to begin to crack and become tender. In my case it was 30 minutes.
- We take out of the oven and we let them warm or chill to serve.
