Homemade fondant

Fondant is widely used in recent years as a decorative pastry dough, especially for decorating cakes. The basic form of the melting It is a mixture of sugar and water, but in a homemade way you can use the typical candy clouds.

The fondant is a laminated pasta to cover any type of dessert. In the market there are many supermarkets where they already sell them, but you can also get it online, although at home it is much simpler than you think.

Ingredients

  • 150 g of clouds.
  • 300 g of icing sugar.
  • Raindrops.
  • Food dye.
  • Butter.

Preparation

First of all, tell you that the preparation of this fondant paste is very simple to do, but it is something cumbersome, since the clouds are quite sticky.

The first step is spread a container made of glass or crystal, suitable for the microwave, with a little butter. This is so the clouds don't stick to the container.

We will put it in 30 to 30 seconds at low temperature until they melt quite a bit. Then, we will stir it with the spatula and we add icing sugar until we see that it detaches from the container.

Once a kind of dough is obtained, we sweeten the smooth surface with a lot of icing sugar and we will put the fondant dough on top. Go kneading with enveloping movements and adding the sugar little by little until obtaining a homogeneous dough that comes off the hands and is elastic.

To dye the fondant dough, the food dyesIn my case I used the gel one and it came out quite well, although the original recipe used dry stain.

Finally, wrap this fondant dough in plastic wrap and put in the fridge about 30 minutes to use. This paste can last up to 6 months in this way, so you can make enough to make cakes for several months.
