Who doesn't like potato stews? When this time of year arrives in my house they become an essential dish. With meat, fish, vegetables ... each week you can prepare them differently. Today I propose this one that I personally enjoy a lot: Potato stew with peas and ham.

Comforting, simple and rich. This stew of potatoes, peas and ham will be one of those dishes that you will appreciate having prepared when you get home after a difficult morning at work or a long day enduring inclement weather at this time of year. And doing it will not cost you much.

My advice is that, once you start cooking, prepare a good portion. It is not a dish that can be frozen (the potato does not respond well to this process) but it holds well in the fridge for up to three days so you can solve the food of a couple of days.

Potato, pea and ham stew
Simple, tasty and comforting, this is this potato stew with peas and ham that we teach you to cook today. Prepare it this fall!

Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 dientes de ajo chopped
  • 75 g of ham cubes
  • ½ teaspoon of paprika
  • ½ cup of tomato paste
  • 4 potatoes, chopped or clicked
  • Vegetable broth or water
  • 260 g. peas
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation
  1. Heat the oil in a saucepan and fry the onion over medium heat for 8 minutes.
  2. Then we add the garlic and the ham and sauté for another minute before removing the pan from the heat.
  3. Outside of the fire, add the paprika and mix.
  4. Next, we return the casserole to the fire, add the tomato and cook until it reduces.
  5. Once the liquid has evaporated, add the potatoes, mix and sauté for a couple of minutes before covering with broth.
  6. Bring the broth to a boil and then cook for 20 minutes.
  7. Finally, add the peas and cook for 10 more minutes until tender.
  8. We turn off the heat, let it rest covered for a few minutes and serve the potato stew with peas and ham hot.
