The sfenjs They are typical of Morocco, they are like the classic Spanish churros but with a round shape. There is almost always a nearby store that sells them freshly made and they are a hit with snacks, with the difference that here they are accompanied by a mint tea instead of the classic hot chocolate.
Difficulty level: Medium
Preparation time 20 min. + rise time
Ingredients:
- 250gr of flour
- 2 teaspoons baker's yeast
- 225ml of warm water
- Half teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
Preparation:
We dissolve the yeast in a little water and mix together with all the ingredients, knead until obtaining a slightly liquid dough that sticks a lot on the fingers. We spread it with a little oil and cover it with plastic wrap, let it rise for about an hour. We can cover it with a blanket to make it rise faster.
In a frying pan we heat sunflower oil, we also anoint our hands with oil and take a ball of the dough, round it and make a hole in the center. We add it to the pan and brown it on both sides, the fire should not be very strong, otherwise it will brown on the outside and on the inside it will be raw.
When it is ready, remove from the pan and place on kitchen paper to absorb the oil.
