Donuts with orange, a version of fritters with a citrus touch of orange that gives it a very good flavor. In the Lenten season we find donuts in all patisseries and bakeries, today we find them with many flavors and fillings. We can find them filled with cream, cream, chocolate ... And with lemon, vanilla, cinnamon, anise or orange flavors like the recipe that I propose today.
The most important of good ones fritters is the dough They must be very juicy and light, they must be consumed in the day because if they remain for another day they are not as good.
- 150 ml. milk
- 100 ml of water
- 180 gr. Of flour
- 50 gr. of butter
- Zest of 1 orange
- Juice of an orange
- 2-3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 500 ml. sunflower oil
- Sugar to coat the fritters
- To make the orange fritters, we first prepare the ingredients. We grate the orange and extract the juice of half an orange.
- We put a saucepan on the fire with the milk, the water and the butter, the orange zest and the orange juice. While the saucepan is heating, we take a bowl, mix the flour with the yeast and a pinch of salt.
- When the saucepan is hot, we will add the flour at once, stir until the dough comes off the walls of the saucepan. We stir it and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- We will start by adding an egg, stir until it is well integrated into the dough, add the next one and mix well again. For the dough to be more consistent it is better to let the dough rest for 1 hour.
- We put a pan with the sunflower oil to heat, we will put it over medium heat. When it is hot with the help of two spoons we will take dough and form balls and we will add them to the hot oil. We will be doing it in small batches.
- We will let the fritters brown on all sides. We will take them out and leave them on absorbent paper. Before they cool, we will pass them through sugar.
- As we coat them in sugar, we will place them on a serving tray.
