Delicious! If you have not yet prepared them at home, we encourage you to do so. It is a recipe that takes time to prepare but the result is exquisite.
- 1 loaf of bread from the day before or special bread for torrijas
- 1 and a half liters of milk (semi-skimmed or whole)
- 5 eggs
- 1 stick of cinnamon stick
- The zest of half a lemon
- 350 g of white sugar
- 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon.
- ½ liters of mild extra virgin olive oil
- Before frying the torrijas we have to have them prepared two containers: one with the mixture of milk, cinnamon stick and lemon (cooked at medium temperature for 10 minutes to mix the flavors) and another with the 5 beaten eggs to roll the bread in them.
- We put a large frying pan with the olive oil to heat over medium heat.
- While the oil is heating we bathe the slices of bread in the milk. We turn it over so that they are well impregnated but do not drip and we pass it for the beaten egg that we already have prepared. Once this is done, we pass them directly to the pan with hot oil.
- Fry the torrijas on both sides until they are golden. Once fried, we transfer them to a plate with a couple of absorbent napkins to remove the excess oil.
- We catch another container to mix the sugar with the ground cinnamon, and we are going through said mixture once fried.
- We leave them cool to room temperature and we can already taste them accompanying them with a tasty coffee or hot chocolate.
