Tomato jelly

We often include jams in our diet, usually fruit, but what do you think if we also jump in with vegetables? This time it is a tomato jam, very easy to make and that will serve us both to enjoy in a rich toast and for other preparations, which will be simple but with a striking presentation. Preparation time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Half a kilo of tomatoes (preferably ripe)
  • A quarter of a kilo of sugar *
  • The juice of half a lemon

** Generally the amount of sugar will be half the weight of the tomatoes, but can be reduced or increased if desired.

Preparation:

Cut the tomatoes into small cubes and put them to heat in a saucepan over low heat. When they are hot add the lemon juice and sugar. Continue cooking over low heat and stirring continuously until you get the desired consistency, you can add a little water if you see it necessary.

If you make enough quantity you can store it in previously sterilized jars, we will soon see how to do it.

When serving ...

We have had it for breakfast with some toast, but my favorite option is to make other recipes with it. Tomorrow I will bring you a very easy, quick and colorful dinner that has this jam.

Recipe suggestions:

I like to leave small pieces of tomato, that's why I cut them into small cubes. If you prefer, you can grate it and, if you also want to remove the skin, you can boil them for a few minutes, drain them and peel them before starting with the preparation of the jam.
