During the weekend I take my time preparing breakfast. I enjoy the process and of course the end result, without rushing! Yesterday I will prepare these toast with sauteed apples and walnuts. With that combination of ingredients few things could go wrong.
It was the first time I had made this type of toast and I liked the result. I will probably repeat it in a while. It is not a breakfast that is going to become habitual, mainly because of the sugar and fat it contains and to which we are no longer used to this time of day, but I will save it to treat myself to a sweet treat from time to time.
- 2 large slices of bread (mine whole and with seeds)
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup of almond milk
- 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 spoonful of butter
- Sugar and cinnamon (optional)
- 3 apples, peeled and cut into wedges
- 1 spoonful of butter
- 1 teaspoon of brown sugar
- A pinch of cinnamon
- Nuts
- Honey
- We start by preparing the sautéed apple. To do this, we melt the butter in a pan over medium heat and we cook the apples with the sugar and cinnamon 8-10 minutes or until apples are soft. We booked.
- To make the toasts, we beat the eggs, milk and vanilla in a bowl. In the same pan that we made the apples, we melt the butter. Next, we pass the toasts through the egg mixture and fry until golden on both sides.
- We immediately serve the toasts, coated in sugar and cinnamon, with the sautéed apple, some walnuts and a splash of honey.
