Strawberry and chia jam

Today we prepare a simple recipe that once you try I am sure you will repeat. It is a strawberry and chia jam, ideal to complete breakfast. On toast or mixed with natural yogurt, it becomes a great alternative for the whole family.

Chia seeds are considered a "superfood" because of their great nutrient supply. They are an excellent source of fiber and antioxidants, calcium, protein and omega 3 fatty acids of plant origin. Because they absorb 10 times their weight in water, it also produces a feeling of satiety.

The strawberry and chia jam that we prepare today is ideal to have for breakfast with some toast, a yogurt or a bowl of oat flakes.

Ingredients
  • 1, 5 cups strawberries cleaned
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon of chia

Preparation
  1. We chop the strawberries and we place them in a saucepan or casserole.
  2. Add the honey and lemon juice and cook to simmer until strawberries are tender, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. We crush the strawberries or we crush the mixture until achieving the desired texture, with more or less lumps, as you like!
  4. We add the seeds chia and mix.
  5. We transfer the mixture to a jar, cover and we let it rest all night.
  6. The next morning we take with some toast, a yogurt or a bowl of oatmeal flakes.
