Since this dish is a main and gratin dish, I have made it more consistent, but if you want it to accompany other dishes or mix it with other ingredients, it can be left creamier and lighter.

Ingredients
  • 1 kilo of potatoes
  • 50 gr. of butter
  • 80 ml. milk, evaporated milk or cream
  • Grated cheese
  • Sal Island

Preparation
  1. To prepare the mashed potatoes gratin with cheese, we will start by cooking the potatoes. We put a saucepan with plenty of water, add the potatoes and leave them until they are cooked between 20-30 minutes, depending on the potatoes. When they are, we take them out and drain.
  2. Once drained, we peel and chop them, put them in a bowl, they must be hot to be able to crush them better. We will help ourselves with a spatula for mash or a fork. We will incorporate the butter in pieces while the potato is hot so that it is well incorporated.
  3. We add a little salt to this mixture.
  4. Finally we add the milk, cream or evaporated milk, we will add it to the puree and stir and mix well. We will pour until we leave a creamy puree, as we like best.
  5. We put the puree in a baking dish, we cover it with grated cheese.
  6. We put it in the oven and au gratin at 180ºC. When it is golden on top, remove and serve.
