Sauce cans don't take up much space in our fridge. Except for the homemade tomato sauce that we usually prepare at home to accompany pasta dishes or the traditional Bonito fish with tomato, we do not usually resort to this type of preparation except in exceptions as this barbecue sauce.
The barbecue sauce is perfect to accompany meats and vegetables grilled. And it is not difficult to prepare it at home. If you have 20 minutes, you can prepare it yourself. It doesn't taste the same as the commercial one, but we don't think it's necessary either. By doing it you can control the ingredients you use, the quantities and customize it.
- 2 cayenne chillies, crushed
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon hot paprika
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup of homemade tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 3 tablespoons honey
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- We put all the ingredients in a saucepan.
- We bring to a boil and then we cook over low heat for 10 minutes stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens. You can leave the sauce as is or pass it if you like it better like that.
- We save the sauce in an airtight container and let it cool down before putting it in the fridge. You can use it for 10 days.
