Halloween is coming and as we know that more and more of you are celebrating this party, we do not want to miss the opportunity to show you some simple proposals to present at your table. Proposals like these ghost meringues, specially decorated for the Halloween's night.
To achieve these spooky meringuesWe only have to decorate the meringues. How? Drawing the eyes and mouth of the ghost using dark chocolate chips or melted chocolate. It is a simple recipe that nevertheless requires some patience; The meringues take about an hour and a half to be ready.
- 2 egg whites at room temperature
- 200 g. sugar (caster sugar *)
- A pinch of salt
- A few drops of lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla essence
- 50 g. dark chocolate
- We beat the whites with a few drops of lemon in a clean, dry container until foamy.
- Then, without stopping to beat, we incorporate the sugar very little by little. It is preferable that the sugar is fine, known as 'caster sugar'. * If you can't find it, just crush the normal sugar for a few minutes, without it turning into icing sugar.
- As the mixing time increases, the meringue will become denser and thicker. it will be brighter. We will have finished preparing the meringue when the sugar is not perceived. We will check it by rubbing a portion of meringue between two fingers.
- Once ready, we introduce the meringue in a pastry bag and on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, we are forming little piles. You can also form them with a spoon.
- We bake at 100-130 ºC for about an hour and a half.
- Once done, we take them out of the oven and Let it cold down.
- We melt the chocolate and with a toothpick or brush, we draw the eyes and mouth of the ghosts.
