The croque-monsieur is a typical french sandwich that is normally gratin, however, the ingredients do not vary at all from any sandwich normal and simple ham and cheese. This sandwich gives a very different touch but at the same time delicious.

In this way, we carry out some different sandwiches for children by not getting bored of these healthy snacks for them. They can be eaten for both lunch and dinner, being a succulent, satisfying and rich recipe.

Ingredients

  • York ham.
  • Sliced ​​cheese.
  • Grated cheese.
  • Bread.

For the bechamel:

  • Butter.
  • Flour.
  • Milk.
  • Salt
  • Nutmeg.

Preparation

First, we will make a bechamel. To do this, we will put a small frying pan or saucepan to heat to which we will add a piece of butter. Once melted we will add 2 tablespoons of flour and, little by little, we will incorporate the milk until we get a homogeneous and thick mixture that can be spread. In addition, we will add salt and nutmeg.

Then we will prepare the slices of bread. At the base of the slice we will put a layer of the previously prepared béchamel sauce and on top we will place a slice of York ham, another of cheese and another of York ham. On top of this we will put another slice of sliced ​​bread in which, on top, we have spread again with béchamel.

Finally, we will add grated cheese on top and place them all on a deep oven tray and place them in it (already preheated) for a few 10-15 minutes at 200ºC.
