Caprese salad, an easy salad of Italian gastronomy

Caprese salad

La Caprese salad It is possibly the best known in Italy, its preparation has no mystery and in less than five minutes we can enjoy a delicious salad. This salad It is native to Capri and is basically made up of tomato, mozzarella and basil leaves.

There are numerous variants of the caprese salad, all equally simple, since it is only a matter of adding ingredients such as pepper, olives, grated cheese or even sugar. It is also known that the colors of this salad are reminiscent of the Italian flag: the red of the tomato, the white of the mozzarella and the green of the basil. I have used dried basil, so I am without the green ...

Ingredients

  • 1 Tomate
  • 125 gr of Mozzarella cheese
  • A teaspoon of dried basil (Or some fresh leaves)
  • Sal Island
  • Olive oil

Crafting

The first thing we will do is cut the tomatoes into slices, add salt to them and place them in a colander so that they release a little water. On the other hand we cut the mozzarella into slices as well. When the tomato has released a little water, we will only have to assemble the dish alternating colors and dress with olive oil and, in my case, dried basil.

Notes

  • If you use fresh basil leaves, you will only have to clean them and dry them with a clean cloth by gently tapping them, otherwise their flavor will become more bitter.
  • As I said before, you can add more ingredients such as olives, grated cheese, pepper or even sugar.
