Bread stuffed with vegetables and minced meat

What do you think if we dare to put our hands in the dough? In my case it was something I was always afraid of, that's why I didn't make bread or anything like that, but I assure you that everything has changed after making my first attempt. East stuffed bread that you see is the first bread that I make in my life, and I assure you that it will not be the last ...

Bread stuffed with vegetables and minced meat

Degree of difficulty: Easy

Preparation time: 40 minutes approx. (depends on each oven)

Ingredients:

For the mass:

  • 400 gr. Of flour
  • 150 ml. milk
  • Half teaspoon of salt
  • 3 eggs (one is for painting)
  • 20 gr. fresh yeast (pressed, bread)

For the filling:

  • 1 cebolla
  • 2 green peppers (if it can be one red and one green, the better)
  • Carrots 2
  • 100 gr of minced meat
  • 2 tomates
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Sal Island

Preparation:

First of all we are going to prepare the filling. Cut the onion, carrots and peppers into small pieces. In a frying pan add the olive oil and, when it is hot, add the onion. When it is almost transparent add the peppers, carrots and minced meat.

Grate the tomatoes and add them when the meat is done.

Add salt and continue cooking until the vegetables are done (you can add a little water if necessary). When you finish, book it.

Now we go with the . In a bowl put the flour (reserve about 50 gr. In case they are necessary later) and add the salt and yeast, mix everything well. Then add the 2 eggs, mix again and, finally, add the milk little by little, until the dough is no longer sticky. In my case, I use a little device (I don't know what it's called, how silly!) And it is enough to see that the dough separates from the walls of the bowl. If you knead by hand, make sure that it does not stick to your fingers.

Let the dough rest for 10 minutes and you are ready! Now lightly dust the work surface with a little flour and roll the dough into a rectangular shape. If you can help yourself with a roller, better, I don't have it and I managed with my hands. Fold it in the longest half and make the cuts that will later be used to make the braid. Carefully reopen it and voila.

EDIT: Before adding the filling, place the dough on the baking tray previously greased with a little oil. I did not realize this detail, then I had to move the already filled braid from the table to the tray and it was quite difficult to try not to break it.

Now add the filling that you reserved earlier and close it by crossing a strip on the right and one on the left, like this continuously until finished.

Finally, brush it with a beaten egg and put it in the preheated oven. Generally, it takes about 20 minutes at 160ºC, but each oven is different and it may take you more or less time. Once you have your golden bread you can take it out of the oven and enjoy!

Bread stuffed with vegetables and minced meat

When serving ...

  • You can serve it with other lighter appetizers for a dinner or lunch as a "snack".
  • In any celebration with family or friends it can be great, its presentation is always liked. Serve it on a long plate, cut a few slices so that you know that it is filled and leave the rest as is, you will see how they like it (do not forget to leave the knife nearby so they can be served).

Recipe suggestions:

  • The important thing about this recipe is the bread itself, then the filling can be changed to taste. It can be a single ingredient, two, three ... As you like.
  • The ingredients with which you can fill it are infinite, but I leave you some ideas:

- Sliced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and oregano.

- Tuna and onion (previously poached).

- Mushrooms and some cheese that melts well.

  • If you do not dare with the braid you can not do it, simply place the filling on one side of the stretched dough in a rectangular shape and roll it up or you can also make small stuffed buns (make balls with the dough, open a hole in them, place the filling and close them ).

The best…

  • You can take advantage of ingredients that you have in the pantry (that's what I did).
  • If I have been able to do it, which is the first time I have touched a dough, you can also do it. The explanation is long, but it is very easy to do.

Hi carmen! I assure you that it is very easy, it was the first time I made bread, and I also wanted to make it stuffed and shaped like a braid ... (me and my gastronomic challenges). We all liked it very much and it quickly disappeared. I must also say that I am a mess with the masses, I have been trying to make a cake for 1 week and they all go to the garbage.

You will tell me how and if you need to ask anything you already know where to find me; )

Greetings and thank you very much for your comment

By the way! If you notice, I stretch the dough on the kitchen table and fill it right there, then it took me the same life to put it on the baking sheet. For this reason, once you stretch it, make the cuts, etc., put it on the baking tray and fill it there, otherwise it is difficult to move it without breaking; )

Waoh! It looks pretty good! Sure, I only thought about meat and tomatoes because I don't like onion ..! Although maybe if the small beak was not noticeable and it would give it an exquisite flavor

      Hello rosita!

You can do that or substitute it with other ingredients, how about preparing the filling with minced meat, tomato, mushrooms, green pepper and red pepper ?. Or you can even go for a totally different filling, for example cheese and mushrooms :)

Greetings and thank you very much for your comment ; )
