Homemade egg flan, sweet joy for this Friday

Homemade egg flan

Today, finally! Saint blessed Friday, to give you a very sweet surprise I have prepared a magnificent dessert. It's about a homemade egg flan made in a water bath.

El flan homemade egg is a dessert that love the little ones, although the not so young also love them. This dessert dates back to the Roman Empire where it was known by the name of tyropatin until we reach our days as the most tasty traditional recipe for all.

Ingredients

  • 5 eggs.
  • 750 ml of milk.
  • 10 tablespoons of sugar.

For candy:

  • 3 tablespoons of sugar.
  • Raindrops.

Preparation

To make this homemade egg custard, we first have to perform is candy. To do this, we will take a casserole, in which we will deposit the sugar along with the sugar drops. We will put it over a low heat, letting it boil gently and, we will remove it when it has a blonde tone.

I particularly like caramel less toasted, less dark, but if you want it, a caramel more black you just have to leave it more time in the fire.

Caramelo

At the same time that the caramel is being made, we will proceed to make the base mix for this delicious homemade egg flan. To do this, we will put the 5 eggs in a bowl and beat it well. When they are beaten, we will add the sugar little by little, remember that if it is added suddenly, the yolks will crystallize. Finally, we will add the milk while continuing to move.

Flan mix base

Once everything is done, we will put the caramel in the bottom of the mold and when 1 minute passes we will add the mixture of the homemade egg custard on top. We will place the mold inside a large fountain to which we will pour a little water, to make the so famous water bath.

Water bath

Finally, we will put this homemade flan in the oven 1h at 200ºC. We can check that it is when inserting a toothpick and that it comes out clean. Let cool first to room temperature and then in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours. Then we will unmold and enjoy with children this delicious homemade egg flan. I hope you enjoy it.

And how would the same recipe without an oven be made? Thanks 😉

Without an oven, you mean to do it in a microwave, right? Well, for this, it is all the same, but what you do not have to do is let it boil. That is, first we put the flan in the micro for about 2 min at maximum power, then let it rest a little, put another 2 min at 75% power and rest again (at least another 2 min) and so on until the flan is set. (REMEMBER: never let the flan boil). It is a somewhat complicated but not difficult way.

Thanks for following us!! 🙂 Greetings!
