French toast with orange

Torrijas with orange, a traditional recipe that cannot be absent in these days of Holy Week.
To make them different I have given them a touch of orange, instead of putting the lemon peel I have put the orange zest, it gives it a smooth and rich flavor.
Torrijas is an easy dessert to prepare, with a very good result. I always prepare the traditional ones, that's why I wanted to give it another different point and they liked them a lot.
Surely if you try them you will like them.

Ingredients
  • 1 loaf of bread for torrijas from the day before
  • 1½ liter of milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 naranjas
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 liter of sunflower oil
  • Sugar to coat

Preparation
  1. To make the torrijas with orange we will first prepare the ingredients.
  2. Put the milk, the zest of the two oranges and ½ orange juice in a saucepan. (you can put more juice).
  3. You just have to grate the orange without the white part, so that it tastes good. This is how my oranges looked after grating them.
  4. We stir it well and put the saucepan on the fire, so that it releases the flavors of the orange zest. When it is hot we turn off and let it warm.
  5. We put a pan with plenty of sunflower oil over medium heat.
  6. In a bowl we beat the eggs, in another we put the warm milk where we will soak the pieces of bread.
  7. We pass the slices of bread through the egg.
  8. When the oil is hot, we will fry the torrijas.
  9. We brown well on one side, turn around and finish browning them.
  10. We take them out and put them on a plate with kitchen paper.
  11. In a plate we put a little sugar to coat the torrijas.
  12. We will pass them to a source.
  13. So until they are all ready.
  14. I got 20 torrijas.
